Random Paragraph Generator
This free random paragraph generator writes fresh placeholder text in one click. Choose how many paragraphs you need, how many sentences go in each one, and a style — classic lorem ipsum, plain real English, or funny sentences — then press Generate and copy the result. It is perfect for filling a website mockup, testing a layout, or beating a blank page when you need words on the screen fast.
Your paragraphs will appear here. Press Generate Paragraphs to start.
How it works
Placeholder text exists for one reason: a layout with no words in it is hard to judge. A heading floating over an empty box tells you nothing about line length, spacing, or how the page will feel when it is finished. Fill the box with paragraphs and the design suddenly makes sense. That is the whole job of this tool — it produces as many paragraphs as you ask for, in the style you pick, so you can see a design with real-looking text in it.
The paragraph count sets how many blocks of text you get, from 1 to 10. One paragraph suits a small card or a short bio; ten suits a full article page. The sentences per paragraph sets the length of each block, from 1 to 10 sentences. Short paragraphs of 3 or 4 sentences read like web copy; longer ones of 7 or 8 read like a magazine article. Every paragraph is built from its own fresh random pick, so the paragraphs do not repeat each other.
The style changes what the sentences say. Lorem ipsum is the classic choice: scrambled Latin that has been used as filler since the 1500s. It looks like writing, with long and short words mixed together, but it means nothing, so the reader judges the layout instead of the words. Real English uses plain, readable sentences about everyday things — mornings, work, travel, cooking, and weather — which is better when you want to see how a design handles genuine text, or when you need a draft to rewrite. Funny uses light, playful sentences that make a mockup less boring to look at, which is handy for a demo or a presentation where the placeholder itself gets a laugh.
Every press of Generate shuffles the sentence pool and deals a new hand. The tool samples without repeating inside a paragraph, and if you ask for more sentences than the pool holds, it reshuffles and keeps going, so you never get stuck. The statistics under the output show the paragraph count, the sentence count, the word count, and the character count, which is useful when a design brief asks for a specific amount of copy. Copy takes the plain text with a blank line between paragraphs, ready to paste into a document, a design tool, or a website.
All of the text is free to use. The lorem ipsum passages are classic public filler, and the English and funny sentences were written for this tool, so there is no license to worry about and no credit line to add.
Worked example
A designer is mocking up a blog article and needs two paragraphs of filler text, three sentences each, to check the line length.
Step 1: Set Paragraphs to 2 and Sentences per paragraph to 3.
Step 2: Leave the style on Lorem ipsum.
Step 3: Press Generate Paragraphs.
The tool returns 2 paragraphs with 3 sentences each — 6 sentences in total, usually around 70 to 80 words. The statistics underneath confirm it: Paragraphs 2, Sentences 6. The designer pastes the text into the mockup, sees that the lines run a little long, and narrows the column by a few pixels. Pressing Generate again would give a completely different set of 6 sentences.
FAQ
Is the text different every time I press Generate?
Yes. Every click shuffles the sentence pool and picks a fresh set at random, so the paragraphs you get are different each time. With the real English and funny styles the pool holds dozens of sentences, which makes repeats very unlikely across a few clicks.
Can I use the generated text in my own work?
Yes. The lorem ipsum text is classic placeholder Latin that has been in public use for centuries, and the real English and funny sentences were written for this tool, so you can use them in mockups, drafts, tests, and designs without a license or a credit line.
What is lorem ipsum?
Lorem ipsum is scrambled Latin text that designers have used as placeholder copy since the 1500s. It looks like real writing, with words of different lengths and natural sentence shapes, but it means nothing, so readers focus on the layout instead of the words. It is the standard filler text for mockups and drafts.
How many paragraphs can I generate at once?
You can generate from 1 to 10 paragraphs at a time, with 1 to 10 sentences in each paragraph. That gives you anything from a single short paragraph for a small mockup up to ten full paragraphs for testing a long article layout. Press Generate again for a fresh set.
When should I use real English instead of lorem ipsum?
Use real English when you want to see how a layout reads with genuine sentences, for example when you are testing line length, checking how a design handles real words, or writing a draft you plan to rewrite. Use lorem ipsum when you want the reader to judge the design, not the words, because readable text pulls the eye toward the content.
