Quote Generator
Our free quote generator serves up one famous, correctly attributed quote at a time. Pick a category — motivational, success, life, funny, love, or wisdom — and click for a new quote from well-known voices like Einstein, Churchill, Maya Angelou, Oscar Wilde, and Mark Twain.
How it works
A quote only works when the words and the author are both right. This generator keeps a list of 50 famous quotes across six categories, each one a real, well-known saying with its correct author — no made-up lines and no quotes pinned to the wrong person. Pick a category, click New Quote, and the generator deals you one at random. Click again for another, and it will not show you the same quote twice in a row.
The categories cover the moments people actually look for quotes. Motivational quotes are for mornings, workouts, and fresh starts. Success quotes are for work, business, and goals. Life quotes are for reflection and big decisions. Funny quotes are for cards, captions, and breaking the ice. Love quotes are for anniversaries, weddings, and messages to someone special. Wisdom quotes are the short, sharp lines from philosophers and thinkers that still hold up centuries later.
Use the Copy button to grab a quote with its author attached, ready to paste into a card, a presentation, a social media post, or a journal. Keeping the author with the quote matters: a great line with the wrong name attached spreads misinformation, and a quote with no author at all looks unfinished.
If you are using a quote in a speech or a published piece, read it once more before you use it. Short famous lines are easy to misremember — a single swapped word can change the meaning. The versions here are the widely accepted wordings of each quote, written the way their authors are usually quoted.
Worked example
A teacher wants an opening line for a Monday morning assembly and picks the Motivational category.
She clicks New Quote and gets: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.” — Nelson Mandela. It fits the assembly perfectly, so she taps Copy Quote and pastes it onto the first slide, with Mandela’s name underneath.
She clicks again for a second slide and gets: “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” — Theodore Roosevelt. Two clicks, two usable quotes, both correctly attributed, and neither one repeated the first. Every quote in the Motivational category, from Steve Jobs to Confucius, is one click away in the same way.
FAQ
Are the quotes on this generator real?
Yes. Every quote is a real, well-known saying with its correct author, from figures like Winston Churchill, Maya Angelou, Oscar Wilde, Mark Twain, and Albert Einstein. No quotes here are made up or pinned to the wrong person.
How many quotes are in the generator?
There are 50 quotes across six categories: Motivational, Success, Life, Funny, Love, and Wisdom. Each category has at least eight quotes, and every click picks one at random from the category you chose.
Can I use these quotes on social media?
Yes, short famous quotes are widely shared on social media, in cards, and in presentations. Keep the author’s name with the quote, and for anything published commercially, check that the wording and attribution are right for your use.
Why does the generator never repeat the same quote twice in a row?
The generator remembers the last quote it showed and picks a different one next time, so clicking New Quote always feels like progress. Repeats can still happen after a few clicks, just like shuffling a deck of cards.
What is the most famous quote in the generator?
That depends on who you ask, but the most shared ones are usually “The only way to do great work is to love what you do” by Steve Jobs, “It always seems impossible until it’s done” by Nelson Mandela, and “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step” by Lao Tzu.
