How it works
Ethereum is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market value, and ETH is its native coin. People buy ETH as an investment, use it to pay for transactions on the Ethereum network, and hold it in wallets and on exchanges. Because the dollar price of ETH moves up and down all day, the first question anyone holding ETH asks is simple: what is it worth in dollars right now?
This converter uses one simple idea: the price per ETH. The price tells you how many US dollars one ETH buys. If the price is $2,245.61, then every ETH is worth $2,245.61. Crypto prices change constantly — by the minute, and sometimes by the second — as buyers and sellers trade on exchanges around the world. That is why this page fetches the live price from CoinGecko when it loads, instead of using a fixed rate baked into the page. It covers eight coins — Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana, XRP, Dogecoin, Litecoin, Cardano, and BNB — priced in US dollars, euros, or British pounds. If the live price cannot be loaded, it falls back to a stored rate (for ETH, $2,245.61 from 7 Nov 2026) and tells you so on the page, and you can always type your own price instead.
To convert ETH to dollars, multiply the ETH amount by the price. To convert dollars to ETH, divide the dollar amount by the same price. That is the whole calculation — there is no hidden step inside this tool. Real exchanges do add their own costs on top, including a spread between the buy and sell price, a trading fee, and sometimes a withdrawal fee or a network gas fee when you move ETH to your own wallet.
Pick the coin and the currency first, then enter the amount in the first box and the price per coin in the second. When the page loads, the price field is filled with the live CoinGecko price, or with the stored rate (for ETH, $2,245.61 from 7 Nov 2026) if the live price cannot be reached. If your exchange shows a different price, type that number in instead and the result updates instantly — the rate line will say it is a manual rate entered by you. Use the swap button to change direction without retyping the amount.
Common uses include checking the dollar value of the ETH in your wallet, working out how much ETH a dollar budget will buy, pricing something listed in ETH, and estimating the proceeds of a sale before fees. For larger amounts, even a small price move matters: on 10 ETH, a move from $3,000 to $3,100 is worth $1,000. Remember that crypto is volatile — a price that looks right now can be different an hour from now — and that selling ETH can create a tax event, so keep records of your buy and sell prices.
Worked example
Alex in Austin, Texas, holds 2 ETH and wants to know what it is worth in dollars before deciding whether to sell. The price on his exchange that morning is $3,000 per ETH.
Step 1: Write down the amount in ETH — 2 ETH.
Step 2: Write down the price — $3,000 per ETH.
Step 3: Multiply: 2 × 3,000 = 6,000.
Step 4: Read the result in dollars — $6,000.00.
The reverse direction works the same way. If Alex has $6,000 to spend and the price is $3,000 per ETH, he divides: $6,000 ÷ $3,000 = 2 ETH. That is the figure this converter gives for 2 ETH at a price of $3,000, and it is the number Alex can use to plan his sale — before his exchange takes its trading fee, which would leave him with slightly less than $6,000 in hand.
FAQ
How much is 1 ETH in US dollars?
It depends on the current price of Ethereum. At $3,000 per ETH, 1 ETH equals $3,000. Multiply the amount of ETH by the current price per ETH to get the dollar value.
Is the ETH price in this converter live?
Yes. When the page loads, it fetches the live price from CoinGecko for all eight coins — ETH, BTC, SOL, XRP, DOGE, LTC, ADA, and BNB — in US dollars, euros, or British pounds, and fills in the price for you. If the live price cannot be loaded, it falls back to a stored rate (for ETH, $2,245.61 from 7 Nov 2026) and says so on the page, so you always know how fresh the rate is. You can also type your own rate at any time.
Which cryptocurrencies can I convert?
Eight coins: Ethereum (ETH), Bitcoin (BTC), Solana (SOL), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), Litecoin (LTC), Cardano (ADA), and BNB. Each one converts into US dollars, euros, or British pounds, in either direction — pick the coin and the currency in the boxes above.
How do I convert USD back to ETH?
Use the swap button to switch direction, or divide the dollar amount by the price per ETH. For example, $6,000 divided by $3,000 per ETH equals 2 ETH.
Why does my exchange give me a different amount?
Crypto exchanges add a spread to the market price and may charge a trading fee, withdrawal fee, or network gas fee. The amount you actually receive is usually a little less than the plain market-price calculation, so compare the total cost, not just the price.
