Random Number Generator
This free random number generator picks numbers for you in any range you choose. It defaults to the classic random number generator 1 to 100 setup, but you can set any minimum and maximum, generate up to 50 numbers at once, allow or block duplicates, and sort the results. Use it for raffles, games, classroom draws, picking a winner, or deciding something fairly when nobody can agree.
How it works
A random number generator picks a number the way a fair die does: every value in the range has exactly the same chance, and each draw is independent of the ones before it. That independence matters. If you roll a 7, the next roll is no more or less likely to be a 7. This tool works the same way, using your browser's built-in random function to draw from whatever range you set.
The three main settings are simple. Minimum and Maximum set the range, and both ends are included — a range of 1 to 100 can return 1 or 100, not just the numbers between them. The range can be negative too, so −10 to 10 works for temperature-style draws, and the two ends can be far apart: 1 to 1,000,000 is fine. How many sets the count, from 1 to 50 per click. Need more than 50? Press Generate again, or copy one batch and generate another. The quick-range buttons under the inputs jump straight to popular ranges: 1–10, 1–100, 1–1000, a die roll (1–6), and a single digit (0–9).
The two toggles change what the results mean. Allow duplicates is on by default, which is right for dice rolls and repeated draws, where the same number can fairly come up twice. Turn it off for draws where each number can only win once — a raffle, a lottery-style pick, or dealing unique numbers to players. With duplicates off, the quantity must fit inside the range: you cannot draw 10 unique numbers from 1 to 5, and the tool will tell you so instead of failing silently. Sort results lists the numbers smallest to largest, which is handy for checking a set or comparing draws. Leave it off to keep the numbers in the order they were drawn, which is better when the order itself matters, like a race result or a sequence.
The separator menu controls how the results are copied: comma-separated for pasting into a spreadsheet, one per line for a list, or space-separated for a chat message. Press Copy Results to grab the whole batch in that format. Everything runs in your browser, so there is no waiting, no sign-up, and no record of your draws anywhere.
One honest limit: these numbers are random enough for games, draws, practice, and decisions, but they are not suitable for security. Do not use them for passwords, encryption keys, or gambling, where a cryptographically secure source is required. For picking a winner, settling an argument, or rolling virtual dice, they are exactly right.
Worked example
A teacher has 30 students and wants to pick 5 different students to present first, fairly and in no particular order.
Step 1: Set the minimum to 1 and the maximum to 30.
Step 2: Set How many to 5.
Step 3: Turn off Allow duplicates, so no student is picked twice.
Step 4: Leave Sort results off, so the order is the order drawn.
Step 5: Press Generate Numbers.
One click returns five different numbers between 1 and 30 — for example, 7, 23, 4, 18, and 29. The teacher calls the students whose numbers match, in that order. If she wants the list sorted for the attendance sheet, she turns on Sort results and generates again: 4, 7, 18, 23, 29. The same setup works for a raffle: set the range to the number of tickets, turn duplicates off, and draw the winning ticket numbers.
FAQ
How do I generate a random number between 1 and 100?
Leave the minimum at 1 and the maximum at 100, set the quantity to 1, and press Generate Numbers. Each click gives a fresh random number in that range, and every number from 1 to 100 has an equal chance.
Can I generate numbers without duplicates?
Yes. Turn off Allow duplicates and every number in the result will be different. The quantity must fit inside the range — for example, you cannot draw 10 unique numbers from 1 to 5.
How many numbers can I generate at once?
Up to 50 numbers per click. Set the quantity to anything from 1 to 50, then copy the whole list with the Copy button.
Are the numbers truly random?
They are generated in your browser with the standard random number function, which gives every number in the range an equal chance. That is fine for games, draws, and practice, but it is not suitable for security, passwords, or gambling.
Can I sort the generated numbers?
Yes. Turn on Sort results and the numbers are listed smallest to largest. Turn it off to keep them in the order they were drawn, which is better for a raffle or a sequence.
