    How it works

A random date is a date picked with no pattern at all — every day inside your range has exactly the same chance of being chosen. This generator works in three simple steps. First, it counts every day between your start date and your end date, including both ends. Second, it draws the number of dates you asked for, one at a time, and skips any date it has already drawn, so no date repeats inside one list. Third, it formats each date the way you picked and sorts the list if you asked for chronological order. Everything happens in your browser, instantly, with no sign-up and nothing sent anywhere.

The start and end dates set the boundaries. A short range, such as one month, gives you dates close together — useful for picking a meeting day or a quiz date. A long range, such as a full year, spreads the dates out and is better for test data, raffles, or planning a series of events across the year. The range can be as short as a single day, in which case the only possible result is that day itself, or as long as several years. If the end date comes before the start date, the tool will tell you plainly and ask you to swap them, instead of showing a confusing or empty result.

Quantity controls how many dates you get, from 1 to 20. One date is the classic use: pick a winner, pick a day, pick a deadline. Five or ten dates suit a list of event dates, a set of practice questions, or a batch of sample records for a spreadsheet. Twenty dates gives you a full sample set for testing an app or a report. If you ask for more dates than there are days in the range — for example, 20 dates from a 10-day range — the tool will warn you and cap the result at the number of days available, because it never repeats a date inside one list. The weekends option narrows the pool further: when it is on, Saturdays and Sundays are removed before the draw, so every result falls on a weekday. That is handy for work events, school activities, and deadlines that should land on a business day.

The format you pick changes only how the dates look, not which dates are drawn. MM/DD/YYYY is the familiar month-first style used in everyday American writing, such as 03/14/2026. DD MMM YYYY spells the month out — 14 Mar 2026 — which is the clearest format when the date will be read by people in different countries, because no one can mix up the day and the month. YYYY-MM-DD, such as 2026-03-14, is the format computers love: it sorts correctly in spreadsheets and file names, and it never confuses day and month. The sort option controls the order of the list. Chronological order is best when the dates are a schedule. Random order is best when the dates are a draw — a raffle, a lottery, or a set of surprises where the order should not give anything away.

When your list looks right, press Copy All to copy every date at once, one per line, ready to paste into a spreadsheet, a document, or a message. Each date also has its own Copy button, so you can grab a single date without copying the whole list.

    Worked example

A teacher needs five random quiz dates in the spring term, on weekdays only, shown in the familiar month-first format.

Step 1: Set the start date to 2026-01-01 and the end date to 2026-12-31.
Step 2: Set the quantity to 5, the format to MM/DD/YYYY, and turn on Exclude weekends.
    Step 3: Press Generate Dates.

One click returns five different weekday dates inside 2026 — for example, 02/11/2026, 04/03/2026, 06/19/2026, 09/08/2026, and 11/24/2026 — listed in chronological order. The teacher copies the list with Copy All and pastes it into the term plan. A second teacher who needs dates in random order simply switches the order to Random and generates again.

    FAQ

How many random dates can I generate at once?

From 1 to 20 dates per click. Set the quantity, pick your start and end dates, and press Generate. Press it again for a fresh set in the same range.

    Can I exclude weekends?

Yes. Turn on Exclude weekends and every date in the list will fall on a weekday, Monday to Friday. That is handy for scheduling work events, deadlines, and school activities.

    What date formats are available?

Three formats: MM/DD/YYYY such as 03/14/2026, DD MMM YYYY such as 14 Mar 2026, and YYYY-MM-DD such as 2026-03-14. The last one sorts cleanly in spreadsheets and file names.

    Are the dates truly random?

Yes. Each date is picked at random from every day in your range, so every day has an equal chance. No date repeats inside one list, and the sort option lets you view the results in chronological order or in random order.
